“Noville Bastogne’s Outpost” is  a module for Mark H. Walkers LNL Series of tactical wargames. It certainly was a tough nut to crack, design and hardware wise.

The terrain, at the time of the battle of Noville that is portrayed here, was a thawing wet mud pit, weather was foggy and extremely unpleasant. Portraying this situation without having the map look too blunt took me a few approaches. I did a short trip down to Noville, which is only about 2-3 hours by car from my place, to inspire myself of the surroundings and to take a few reference and inspiration photos.

The map PSD file itself was a monster and forced my MacPro workstation on its knees and I had to buy an extra 8gb RAM to continue painting it.
